Who We Are

In 1990, the Quehanna Industrial Development Corporation was formed by Raymond “Sap” Savel and other local residents to try and bring back industries and businesses to the Karthaus area.

We are working hard to bring back the coal industry to its previous glory. We are working with local, state, and federal departments to bridge the gap between all the red tape that is making it hard for the coal industry to do their jobs.

We are also working hard to bring people to the area by holding two major events each year. We hold an Elk Antler Shed Hunt and the Annual QIDC 100 Mile Yard Sale. Each event brings anywhere from 2,000 to 8,000 people to the area. Some of these people have gone on to purchase property, homes, or camps in this area as a result.
